BoldBellowsContract review support for firms that want a faster first read without a shortcut on judgment

AI contract review and summarization for law firms with clause references and a lawyer's sign-off

A lawyer remains responsible for work drafted with the help of software, and courts have sanctioned filings that contained citations a model simply made up, so a machine summary of a contract can only ever be a draft. BoldBellows records the matter, the contract file and the checklist version before any text is read by a model, sends the model only the clauses a step needs, labels every output as a draft and hands the contract to the reviewing lawyer whenever the language is unusual, then builds the route around the way your firm already reads agreements: a contract lands in a matter folder, the route splits it into clauses, asks the model to summarize parties, term, payment, renewal, termination and the other items on your checklist, attaches the clause number to every statement, marks anything it could not find as not found instead of guessing, writes the draft into the matter as a note labeled for review, and notifies the reviewing lawyer. Nothing is sent to the other side and no position is taken.

Chapter 01 the first-read problem

A summary nobody can trace to the page is a risk, not a shortcut

Contract review starts with a long read that an associate or paralegal does under time pressure, and the notes end up in a private document that the supervising lawyer cannot check without reading the whole contract again. A general chatbot makes the problem worse, because it produces fluent text that may drop a clause, blend two together or state a term the contract never contained, and the confident tone hides it. Firms also have to ask where the contract text went and whether the vendor keeps it.

Once the draft showed the clause number next to each line, the partner stopped re-reading whole contracts and started reading clauses.

Catch the event

The Law Firm notification is received, confirmed as genuine and matched against the list of changes that should act.

Split, read, cite

The contract is split into clauses, read against your checklist and summarized with clause numbers.

Label, file, notify

The draft is labeled, filed in the matter and the reviewing lawyer is told it is waiting.

What Law Firm and the model each guarantee

  • Client data goes to AI vendors: Sending client text to an outside AI vendor raises questions about retention and model training, so the build sends the least text a step needs, relies on vendor terms the firm has reviewed and lets the firm switch the step off.
  • Not found is an answer: When a checklist item has no matching clause, the draft says so plainly, because an invented term is worse than a gap.
  • When a write is doubtful: The route finds the record in Contract Review Notes by the matter and contract file reference, compares it with the intention and only then decides.

Chapter 04 Who this fits

Suited to busy immigration practices, and to those who review contracts faster without handing judgment to software: read the agreement against your own checklist, summarize the terms with clause references and give the reviewing lawyer a labeled draft to correct

Lawyers want a faster first read they can still verify, and the firm wants to know exactly what left the building.

Each can produce a summary. Only one cites the clause, follows your checklist and stops at a lawyer's review.

A stale event shows up last

Time is checked before anything is written: the stale event is logged with its reason and the current draft stays as it is.

A scanned contract comes through with unreadable pages

The route marks those pages as unread, summarizes nothing from them and tells the reviewing lawyer which pages need to be read by a person. Matching on the matter and contract file reference, the route sorts the situation into absent, present and correct, present but different, or ambiguous. If the draft exists and matches, nothing more is written.

The matter and contract file reference is the one thing that cannot change after launch, so it is settled on day one.

Chapter 06 The process

Six steps from private notes to a contract review a lawyer can check

Brief, access, design, test, launch and review: six steps, each with a deliverable.

  1. About 30 minutes

Read how contracts are reviewed now

We look at how your firm reads agreements, which items matter by contract type and where the notes end up.

  2. Access review

    Approve access

Access to Law Firm is limited, the model service is agreed with you, and the identifiers for each decision are chosen.

  3. Most of the project

Fix the checklist and the review rules

Checklist items, contract types, what may be sent to a model, the label on every draft and who reviews are written out and approved first.

  4. Before you review

    Run the hard cases first

Repeats, stale events and permission changes are tested before the easy cases, in a copy of Contract Review Notes.

  5. Handover day

    Launch with notes

The last step is release: a defined start, a review window and a PDF you can keep.

  6. About 30 minutes

    Check the live results

The first runs are compared record by record with the source so you can see the route doing its job.

Chapter 08 Getting started

What we ask of you

Authorization to reach the Law Firm objects in scope

A document store or matter folder where contracts arrive, your review checklist for each contract type and a named lawyer who reviews drafts

A Law Firm user or token limited to the objects in scope

Two real cases: one matter event that should act and one that should not

Your preferred naming for statuses, tags or labels in Contract Review Notes

Contact details for whoever manages Contract Review Notes access

Chapter 09 Trust

The draft gets only what it needs, and nothing inside Contract Review Notes is altered

We keep a clear line between what the model reads, what it suggests and what the route is allowed to do in Law Firm.

Read-only Law Firm to AI workflow access: your data stays yoursA firm ledger under a glass cloche with a read-only tag hanging from the knob, meaning it can be looked at but never changed.Firm ledgerEvery lead, onceREAD-ONLYBehind glass: yours to look at, never to change.

Supported connections, nothing more

Access runs through the approved connection points on both sides, so an update to Law Firm or Contract Review Notes does not undo the build.

Scoped, revocable access

Permissions are written down, minimal and reversible.

Private details stay private

Internal notes, payment information and anything outside the map remain in Law Firm and never appear in Contract Review Notes.

Doubt goes to a lookup

When a write might have landed, the answer comes from Contract Review Notes, matched on the matter and contract file reference, not from a second attempt.

Minimal logging

Evidence of a run is kept as references, not as copies of data.

Full handover

The PDF names each rule, credential and owner so your admins are never guessing.

"A summary is only useful to a lawyer if it can be checked in seconds, so every statement carries the clause it came from."

Chapter 11 Questions

Contract review: what lawyers and partners ask

We collected the questions that decide most purchases and answered them.

PriceTimeAccessHandover?Every question, answered
Can a connector with an AI action do the same job on the AI Contract Review and Summarization for Law Firms service?

A plain summary of what a contract says and where, with the clauses that need attention listed is well within a zap's reach. It does not read against your checklist, cite the clause or leave the legal judgment to a lawyer. The build is the part that handles what a simple zap cannot.

Does it tell clients what to do?

No, it summarizes what the contract says and a lawyer decides what that means.

Where does the contract text go?

Only the clauses a step needs go to the model your firm has approved, and the firm can switch the step off.

How do I know a statement is accurate?

Each one cites its clause number so the lawyer can open the clause and check.

What if the contract is unusual?

Unusual clauses are listed for the reviewing lawyer without a summary.

Can it mark up or send a contract?

No, it never edits, signs or sends a contract to anyone outside the firm.

Can we use our own checklist?

Yes, the checklist is yours and each item can carry its own wording.

How are Law Firm fields kept out of the model's view?

Yes, in every package. The map separates what the model reads from Law Firm from what the route may change.

Can high-risk items always go to a person in the AI Contract Review and Summarization for Law Firms service?

Yes. Custom rules for what the model may suggest and who approves it are part of the design, from $1,320.

How are model updates tested before they go live in the AI Contract Review and Summarization for Law Firms service?

The handover lists every interface the route uses. If one changes, the affected item stops and is flagged instead of being written from a guess. Repairs after your review window are quoted separately. It is also the answer to custom ai contract review and summarization for law firms.
