You own what we build for you.
A plain statement of ownership and licensing: what becomes yours when you pay, what stays ours, and what you may do with it, including delivering it to your own clients.
The short version.
Four things worth knowing before you read the detail. Each clause below also starts with its own one-line summary.
The configured automations, scenarios, scripts and documents built specifically for you are yours once paid in full.
Pre-existing methods, templates and know-how stay ours, and you get a lasting license to use any that sit inside your deliverables.
Automations run inside third-party tools. Their terms govern the accounts, data and features involved.
You may deliver our work to your own clients as part of your service. You may not resell our documentation as a standalone product.
A clear split between yours and ours.
Six things people ask about when a project ends, and who holds the rights to each.
Your rights, in one place.
You paid for a working automation, not a rental. This is what that means in practice.
You can use it
Run the automation in your business for as long as the platforms allow.
You can change it
Modify, extend or hand it to another developer. The handover document is written for that.
You can move it
Switching provider is allowed. Platform connections live in your accounts, not ours.
Agencies can deliver it
Pass it to your own clients as part of your service.
We keep the toolbox
General methods and reusable components remain ours, and you get a lasting license to use any inside your build.
No lock-in
No ongoing fee is needed to keep what we built running, apart from the platform plans it uses.
What this page covers
Who owns the automations, scripts and documents you receive and what you may do with them.
This page applies to every order with BoldBellows is a trading name of Sunglasses Cent LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. It forms part of the terms of service. If your accepted quote says something different, the quote wins.
Ownership of deliverables
Pay in full and the deliverables built for you are yours.
Subject to receipt of full payment, we assign to you our rights in the deliverables created specifically for you under the order. “Deliverables” means the configured workflows, scenarios, scripts, field mappings, documents and handover materials we produce for your order. Until payment is received in full, we keep ownership and you may use the deliverables only to the extent they are already live in your systems under the order.
Our pre-existing materials
We keep our general methods and reusable parts, and give you a lasting license to use any that sit in your deliverables.
We retain all rights in methods, templates, checklists, libraries, know-how and tools that existed before your order or that we develop independently of it (“Background Materials”), including general learning from delivering your project. Where Background Materials are embedded in a deliverable, we grant you a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, copy and modify them as part of that deliverable, for your own business purposes.
Your materials
You keep everything you give us, and promise you are allowed to share it.
You keep all rights in the data, content, brand assets and documents you give us (“Client Materials”). You grant us a limited license to use them solely to deliver and support your order. You confirm that you have the right to provide them and to authorize us to work in the accounts involved.
Third-party platforms and open-source parts
Platform terms and open-source licenses still apply to the pieces they cover.
Automations run on third-party platforms whose terms, plan limits and licenses govern their use. Any open-source or third-party component in a deliverable remains under its own license, which we identify in the handover document where relevant. You are responsible for keeping the necessary subscriptions, plans and permissions in force.
Agencies and resale
You may deliver our work to your own clients.
If you are an agency, consultant or freelancer, you may deliver the deliverables to your own client as part of your service, passing on the rights described here. You may not sell or distribute our handover documents, guides or Background Materials on their own as a product.
Portfolio and references
We do not name you publicly without your written permission.
We will not publish your name, logo, data or the details of your project without your written permission. With permission, we may describe the type of work in general terms.
No exclusivity
We can build similar automations for other clients.
Nothing here stops us from building similar automations for others using our Background Materials, provided we do not use or disclose your Client Materials or confidential information.
Common questions about this policy.
10 short answers to what people ask most. If yours is missing, ask it and a person replies within 24 hours.
Do I own the automation after I pay?
Yes. The configured automation and the materials built specifically for you are yours on full payment. You may use them, change them, hire someone else to maintain them and keep them running. We retain only our general methods and templates, as described in licensing and usage.
Can I move the automation to another provider?
Yes. The handover document is written so that another competent person can maintain it, and nothing is locked to us. Platform plans and connections stay in your own accounts, so moving is a matter of giving the new person the document and the access you choose.
Can I show the work to my own client?
Yes, if you are an agency or consultant. You pass on the rights you received, as described on the licensing and usage page. Tell us on the quote form that the work is for a client, so access and handover are documented for the right party.
Will you use my data for other clients?
No. Client Materials, meaning your data, files and credentials, are used only for your order. We never reuse them for another client, and we do not use them to train AI models. What we reuse is our general know-how, which does not include your information.
Do I need to keep paying you to keep the automation?
No. Once delivered and paid, the automation is yours and keeps working without any payment to us. Platform subscriptions are paid to those platforms. Optional support is a separate agreement that you can start or stop independently.
Can another developer take it over?
Yes. That is why every build comes with a handover document, written so that another competent developer can understand and maintain it. It lists the logic, the connections and the places to look when something fails, and it names every permission used.
Can I resell it?
Agencies may deliver what we build to their own clients. What is not allowed is reselling our documents, templates or guides as products in their own right. If you have a larger resale idea, ask through the contact form and we will discuss terms.
What if I stop paying a platform?
The automation stops working on that platform, because it depends on the platform’s service. Ownership of the configuration remains yours, so if you return to the platform or move to another, it can be reused or adapted. We can quote the changes needed for a new platform.
Do you keep a copy?
Working copies are deleted 90 days after handover unless you ask us to remove them sooner. During that window they let us support you quickly if a question arises. After deletion we keep only business records, such as the receipt and agreed scope, for accounting.
Can I show it in my portfolio?
Yes, for your own work, such as describing that you automated order tracking. Do not show client data, and do not publish our documents or templates as if they were yours. If you would like to credit BoldBellows, we appreciate it, but you are not required to.
