BoldBellowsAI structured output and JSON extraction API for developers whose parser breaks on every tenth response

AI structured output and JSON extraction API that returns data in the shape your systems expect and validates every response

Structured output asks the model to return JSON that matches a defined schema, and your code validates every response against it and retries or rejects whatever does not fit. BoldBellows writes down the fields you need, their types and the values that are allowed, and collects typical inputs paired with the output a careful reviewer would expect, before a prompt is drafted, asks the model for JSON that matches the schema, validates every response against it, retries or repairs what does not fit and sends what still fails to a person, then builds the AI structured output and JSON extraction API schema by schema: each schema lists fields, types, required values and allowed options, the request asks the model for output in that shape using the provider's structured output features where available, every response is validated in code, mismatches are retried with the error message, values are normalized such as dates, currencies and phone numbers, anything that still fails goes to a review queue with the input beside it, and the validated JSON is returned by an endpoint or written to your system. Custom AI structured output and JSON extraction API can add versioned schemas and batch runs.

Chapter 01 the every-tenth-response problem

A prompt that says 'return JSON' works until the day it returns a sentence with JSON in it

The prototype asks the model for JSON in a friendly prompt. Nine times in ten, it works. The tenth time, the model adds an introduction, leaves out a field, writes a date in words or invents a value for a field that should have been empty. The parser crashes, or worse, accepts a wrong value and passes it into the database. Fixes are added to the prompt until it is a paragraph of warnings. Nobody can say how often the output is valid, because nobody measures it.

The tenth-response failures went away, and for the first time we had a number for how often the output was valid.

Chapter 02 How it works

How free text becomes validated, dependable JSON

A change must qualify first; its schema is then found by key and only the missing fields are written.

Receive and test

The AI Team notification is verified, logged with its account, resource and time, and tested against your written rule.

Define, request, validate

A schema defines the shape, the model is asked for it, and every response is validated in code.

Repair, queue, deliver

Mismatches are retried with the error, failures are queued with the input, and valid JSON is delivered.

What lies behind the AI Team AI route's design

  • A schema is a contract: Structured output asks the model to return JSON that matches a defined schema, and your code validates every response against it and retries or rejects whatever does not fit.
  • Validate every response: Because a model can occasionally return something close to the schema but not equal to it, the only safe approach is to check every response in code before using it.
  • Repair rule: Before any retry the route reads AI Structured Output through the input, the schema and the validation result, so a second request never doubles the first.

Chapter 04 Who this fits

Who uses this: software developers, all needing to get dependable, machine-readable data out of text, emails and documents, with every response validated against a schema before your systems see it

Models are good at reading messy text, and software needs tidy data, so the bridge between them has to check every crossing.

AI Team to AI Structured Output: a prompt that says return JSON and a parser that breaks every tenth response, a zap or a defined schema, validated model output, retries and repair and a queue for what still fails

Each can ask for JSON. Only one defines the schema, validates every response and queues the failures.

A delayed notice turns up

Every AI Team event is compared with the state already stored, so a late one is logged and cannot undo a newer schema.

The model returns a plausible value for a field that is empty in the source

The schema allows a null for that field, the prompt asks for null when the text is silent, and a rule rejects values that are not found in the source text. The route turns the input, the schema and the validation result into a search of AI Structured Output and sorts the reply into four cases: missing, matching, different or unclear. A schema is created only after a search shows that none exists.

Settle the input, the schema and the validation result with the team first: every field choice and routing rule depends on that one decision.

Third-party subscriptions and usage charges are excluded.

Which AI Team changes should be allowed to start an AI structured output decision?Required

Governed lifecycle set: Use this when several documented AI Team states must converge on one structured output decision.

How should an AI Team record that already has an AI structured output decision be recognized?Required

Ambiguity queue: Send zero-match and multi-match structured output cases to a named reviewer instead of letting the model guess.

What should happen when an AI structured output action can't be confirmed?Required

Managed repair case: Give every uncertain structured output action an owner, a live-state comparison and an approved replay decision.

How soon do you need it live?Required

Standard follows the schedule your other choices set. Pay to move up the queue and go live sooner.

Each one begins switched off. Turn on what your rollout needs, watch the total, switch it back off.

Chapter 06 The process

Six steps from hopeful parsing to dependable data

Six steps, each ending in a written output, lead from brief to a monitored launch.

  1. About 30 minutes

    Define the schema

We define the fields, types and allowed values with you, using real inputs and the answers a person would give.

  2. Access review

    Approve access

Access to AI Team is limited to the objects named in the brief, the model is selected with you and the reviewers are confirmed.

  3. Most of the project

    Agree validation and failure handling

The validation rules, retry limits and who reviews failures are written down and signed off.

  4. Before you review

    Break it on a copy

Repeats, delays, missing values and withdrawn access are tried on a test copy of AI Structured Output before launch.

  5. Handover day

    Launch with notes

Launch happens at a checkpoint you approve, with written notes on each rule that is live, in the AI Structured Output and JSON Extraction API service.

  6. About 30 minutes

    Month-one review

Across the first thirty days the checkpoint log is read with you, retries and drift are watched, and live data decides what gets tuned.

Chapter 07 Turnaround

What to expect on timing

The count starts with real inputs in hand and a destination system to write to.

Basic

6 to 10 business days

Managed

10 to 16 business days

Governed

16 to 24 business days

Chapter 08 Getting started

Needed from you for the AI Structured Output route

A user or token that can read the AI Team records the route needs

Real inputs and the expected outputs, the system that receives the data and a model account

Authorized AI Team credentials for the objects and events in scope

A short written rule for which failed requests should reach AI Structured Output

Someone on your side who decides exceptions and mapping questions

Automations already running in AI Team or AI Structured Output on the same data

Chapter 09 Trust

Only approved data moves, and nothing inside AI Team or AI Structured Output is altered

Access to AI Team is limited to the objects named in the brief, and the model never holds credentials of its own.

Read-only AI Team to AI Structured Output access: your data stays yoursA sealed envelope marked private and yours to open, with a read-only stamp.PrivateYOURS TO OPENREAD-ONLY

Outside the products

AI Team and AI Structured Output are used only through their documented endpoints, so no file, setting or script inside either one is altered.

Scoped, revocable access

Each credential is limited to its AI API and Document task, and you can switch any of them off whenever you wish.

Only the mapped fields move

A signed field map lists what may cross into AI Structured Output; every other AI Team value stays where it is.

When a write is in doubt

A reply that never came back is answered by reading AI Structured Output through the input, the schema and the validation result, and the schema found there decides the next move.

Minimal logging

Logs keep references and outcomes only, so there is no copy of your data to guard.

Full handover

You receive the map, the list of credentials and the repair notes, and keep all of them.

"A model can read anything, but software needs data to arrive in one shape, and the schema is how we make sure it does."

Chapter 11 Questions

Structured output: what developers and data teams ask

Straight answers to the questions buyers ask before committing, in the AI Structured Output and JSON Extraction API service.

Do I need to be there? No. You send one short brief. Then you review a finished result.Search any question
Why not connect AI Team to a model myself?

Need only model output your code can rely on? A zap handles it, but it cannot turn free text into data that always matches the shape your systems expect. Those open questions are exactly what this build answers.

Why not just ask for JSON in the prompt?

Because a model can return something close but not valid, and a schema with validation catches it.

What happens to responses that fail?

They are retried with the error, and anything still failing is queued with the input.

Which models support structured output?

OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models, with varying features, as confirmed in the quote.

Can it normalize dates and currencies?

Yes. Values are converted to a standard form by code after validation.

How is quality measured?

By the validity rate, the retry rate and a saved set of test inputs.

What sets the price of structured output work?

The schemas, volumes and integrations give one fixed total in your quote.

Who decides what the model is shown?

Schemas, validation rules and failure handling are agreed first, and the first request follows your approval.

Can we set thresholds for when a person must approve on the AI Structured Output and JSON Extraction API service?

Yes. Different teams, mailboxes or sites in AI Team can have their own rules and approvers. It begins at $2,325.

Can the schema change later?

Yes. Schemas are versioned, so a change is tested on saved inputs and rolled out without breaking existing consumers.
