Amazon Seller Mailchimp tagging, built around real consent

Amazon Seller to Mailchimp, your opted-in list, tagged by what they actually bought.

We don't export Amazon buyer emails into Mailchimp — Amazon's own policy doesn't allow it. What we connect is the list you already have real consent for, matched against your Seller Central order history so every subscriber carries a tag for what they actually bought.

Amazon Seller to Mailchimp automation by BoldBellows: an opted-in subscriber matched against Amazon order history and tagged by product purchased

The short version, before you scroll

  • No exported buyer emails Amazon's policy stays intact
  • Matched on your own consent Never assumed from an order
  • Tagged by what they bought Not one flat subscriber list
  • Lives inside Mailchimp Not a third-party dashboard
  • From $375 one-off price

01 · the export you're not allowed to make

The problem isn't syncing emails. It's whether you're allowed to.

An Amazon order doesn't hand you marketing consent, whatever the address looks like. A subscriber list actually needs its own opt-in, or the tagging and segmenting underneath it doesn't matter — it's built on the wrong foundation.

Before A list built on addresses you were never given consent to use

  • Nothing that ever risks your seller account

02 · how it works

The only two things this ever touches

Your Mailchimp list on one side, your scoped SP-API order history on the other. The match happens on the email a subscriber already gave you, never on anything pulled straight off an Amazon order.

Your opted-in list Mailchimp, real consent plus Amazon order history BoldBellows matches on consented email never exports a buyer address Your Mailchimp tags purchase-based segments ready for your next campaign
  1. 01

We check your list is real consent

Before anything gets matched, we confirm the list actually came from an opt-in you can point to, not a guess about who bought what.

  2. 02

A subscriber's email finds their order

Where the same address shows up in both places, the match holds. Where it doesn't, nothing gets tagged and nothing gets exported.

  3. 03

Tags land before you'd notice a gap

New matches run on a schedule that suits your order volume, so a fresh purchase shows up in the right segment quickly.

03 · what lands in Mailchimp

A tag worth building a campaign on

Whoever writes the next email gets a segment they can actually target, not a flat list they'd have to guess their way through.

04 · who it's for

Built for sellers who already earned their list

Each role below cares about a different part of the same match. None of them needs Amazon buyer data to get it.

Owners running their own list

"We built this list with a giveaway. It just sits there, untagged."

Every subscriber's purchases finally show up as something you can target.

Email marketers writing campaigns

"I'm sending the same email to buyers and non-buyers alike."

A real segment means the next campaign only reaches who it should.

Brand-registered sellers

"Amazon's own engagement tool never leaves their platform."

This runs alongside it, built entirely on your own consented list.

Multi-brand sellers

"Two brands, one list, and tags that all blur together."

Separate tag sets keep each brand's segment its own.

05 · compare your options

Weighing hand exports, Zapier, and a build that respects Amazon's rules

Two of these three options can get you tagged into a policy problem without you realizing it. The third is built specifically not to.

A list someone assumed had consent

A list built by copying Amazon buyer addresses looks fine right up until Amazon or Mailchimp itself flags it.

We verify a real opt-in source before matching anything against it, so nothing gets built on a bad assumption.

A subscriber's consent going stale

A giveaway list from two years ago may have subscribers who'd be surprised to hear from you again.

The re-permission extra adds a reminder sequence so aging consent gets refreshed instead of assumed.

Build your Amazon Seller to Mailchimp price

Pick a package, answer three short questions about tag detail, list source and how a match should trigger a campaign, and your price and go-live date move as you choose.

Choose your packageRequired

The three packages differ by how much purchase detail follows each subscriber and how the segments stay current.

Every matched subscriber gets one tag for the product they bought.

  • A one-time match between your opted-in list and Amazon order history
  • One purchase tag applied per subscriber, by product
  • Matching done on the email address they gave you at opt-in, never an exported one
  • Your own scoped Selling Partner API account, never a shared public app
  • Handover notes (PDF) covering exactly how the match works
  • Two rounds of changes once you see real tags land

Segments update on their own as new matched orders come in.

  • Everything in the Tag Sync package
  • Every ASIN a subscriber has bought tagged separately, not just one
  • Segments that refresh automatically as new orders match
  • A scheduled re-check on real cron that catches anything missed
  • Handover notes (PDF) covering the full tagging taxonomy
  • Three rounds of changes once it is running

Full purchase history, dated tags, and a triggered follow-up flow.

  • Everything in the Segment Builder package
  • Full purchase history tagged and dated, not just the most recent order
  • A triggered follow-up email flow fired on a fresh purchase match
  • Support for opted-in lists across more than one marketplace
  • Handover notes (PDF) covering the full flow and tag structure
  • Four rounds of changes once it is running

A loyalty program feeding your list, a tagging structure built around a dozen SKUs, or a multi-brand list none of the packages above name. Tell us how your list is actually built and we will price it for your setup.

How much purchase detail should tag each subscriber?Required

More detail means richer segments, at the cost of a slightly larger build.

Where does the opted-in list come from?Required

This never touches Amazon buyer data directly; it enriches a list you already have real consent for.

How should a match trigger a campaign?Required

A tighter trigger reaches a subscriber sooner after the purchase that qualified them.

How soon do you need it live?Required

Standard follows the schedule your other choices set. Pay to move up the queue and go live sooner.

06 · process & getting started

From an opt-in list to a tagged, campaign-ready segment

Five stages carry this from a consent check to a live match, and we handle nearly all of them ourselves. Your part is a short walkthrough of where your list came from and a quick look at the tags before they go live.

  1. Step 01

Walk us through your list's origin

A giveaway, a packaging insert, a landing page: we need to know where consent actually came from before we touch anything.

  2. Step 02

    Two accesses, kept separate

A scoped SP-API credential for order history, a standard Mailchimp API key for your list. Neither one needs the other's login.

  3. Step 03

    The matching logic gets built

Tag names take shape, the match rule against your order history gets defined, and the refresh schedule gets set to your order volume.

  4. Step 04

We test it against real data first

A slice of your actual list and order history runs through the match before you ever see a live tag land.

  5. Step 05

We hand over the tag structure and step back

Written notes cover every tag and the matching rule behind it, and new subscribers keep getting matched without us in the loop.

Your side of it

  • A Mailchimp API key

Standard account access, enough to read and tag subscribers on your audience.

  • A scoped SP-API credential

Issued from Seller Central, read-only, covering order history alone.

  • Proof of where your list came from

A screenshot of the form, page or insert card is usually enough.

  • Whatever tags already exist

Existing tags stay put. We add to your structure, not replace it.

07 · security and ownership

Consent decides who's on the list. We just read what they bought.

This never adds a name to your list on its own. It only ever enriches a subscriber who's already there, with a tag drawn from your own Seller Central order history.

never adds names your Mailchimp no exports out order history only

Read-only on the Amazon side

The SP-API credential can only see order history. Nothing about it can change a listing, adjust a price, or place an order.

No Amazon buyer address ever reaches Mailchimp

The match runs on the email your subscriber already gave you, never one pulled off an order.

Tags apply, nobody gets subscribed

An unmatched address is simply skipped. This never adds a name that wasn't already on your list.

Disconnect it and matching just stops

Revoke either credential and no further tags apply. Existing ones stay exactly as they are.

We don't keep a copy of your list

Each match reads, tags and moves on. No subscriber database sits on our side.

The tag structure is just part of your account

Once it's handed over, it's ordinary Mailchimp configuration you already own.

09 · questions

Questions sellers ask before they connect a list

Most of these came up on real calls before a build shipped. Anything else fits naturally into a quote request.

Can you just pull every Amazon buyer's email into my Mailchimp list?

No, and that's deliberate. Amazon's own policy treats an order as an order, not marketing consent, so we won't build something that exports buyer addresses. What we do build enriches a list you already have real consent for.

What if my list doesn't have a clear consent trail?

We'll ask before building anything, and the landing-page option exists specifically to give you a clean opt-in source if the current list is murky.

How does a subscriber actually get matched to an order?

By the email address itself. If the address on your Mailchimp list matches the one used at Amazon checkout, the match holds and a tag applies; if it doesn't, nothing happens.

Isn't this just something Zapier already does?

Zapier can move a value between two apps, but it has no native concept of matching a consented subscriber against Amazon order history or refusing a match Amazon's policy wouldn't allow. That logic is the actual build, not the connector.

We run more than one brand through this account. Does that complicate things?

It moves you toward the multi-brand extra, which keeps each brand's tags in their own set instead of one blended structure.

Where does our data actually sit, and is there a recurring cost?

Your list stays in Mailchimp, your orders stay in Seller Central, and we hold neither after a match runs. It's a single payment, not a subscription.

What if Amazon or Mailchimp changes something on their end?

A broken match typically shows up as a gap in the sync log the same week it happens. With aftercare added, we fix whatever it touches for 90 days at no extra charge.
