BoldBellowsOne widget, many meanings

The same Elementor form on two pages shouldn't post to the same Discord channel

A cloned widget is convenient to build and dangerous to wire up blind. We register which page each copy actually belongs to, strip role mentions and private fields before anything posts, and route the result to the channel that page was built for.

No monthly connector fee.

  • A cloned widget still knows its own page
  • No @everyone or role ping ever posts
  • Setup finishes inside two weeks
Elementor Forms to Discord automation by BoldBellows: two copies of the same widget on different landing pages routing to their own Discord channel, with mentions stripped and private fields excluded from the embed

What a page-aware embed has to get right before it posts

  • Page identity resolved firstbefore a channel is picked
  • Role pings neutralizednever left live in the text
  • Only approved fields travelprivate answers stay out
  • An unregistered clone waitsinstead of posting somewhere wrong
  • A failed post retriesagainst the message it already tried

01The cloned-widget trap

Copying a form is easy. Copying its meaning is not

Elementor's clone button turns one form into ten in seconds, but a raw webhook has no idea any cloning happened. It sees the same widget definition and treats every submission from it identically. Sound familiar?

"Speaker applications started showing up in the volunteer channel."

A page got duplicated for a new program, and the form that came with it never got its own destination.

"Someone pasted a message that pinged the whole server."

A free-text field copied straight into an embed carries whatever Discord syntax happened to be in it.

"The applicant's email address was sitting right there in public."

A payload built from every submitted field doesn't know which of those fields were never meant to leave the site.

Posting to Discord is not the hard part. Knowing which page a submission actually came from, and what's safe to publish, is.

Same Elementor widget, cloned onto two program pages. The difference is whether the copy is registered with its own purpose, or left to inherit whatever the original happened to point at.

Before

#general-forms channel Mention: not stripped Email: posted publicly
  • Both program pages share one default channel
  • Discord mention syntax posts exactly as typed
  • Every submitted field is assumed fair to publish

After

New application received Origin: Speaker Applications page ✓ Routed to #speaker-apps ✓ Role mention stripped before posting ○ Email excluded from the public embed
  • Each page's clone posts to its own channel
  • Mentions and role syntax never post live
  • Only the fields you approved reach the embed

02How it works

How a submission earns its Discord destination

The page behind the widget gets resolved first, the embed gets built from the approved fields and sanitized text second, and only then does it post, to the channel that page was actually registered for.

An unregistered clone routes here instead STEP 1Resolve the page Widget instance matched toits registered program page STEP 2Sanitize the embed Mentions stripped, privatefields dropped before it's built STEP 3Embed posted Message ID storedfor later reconciliation STEP 4Clones held An unregisteredcopy waits for approval STEP 1Resolve the page Matched to its program page STEP 2Sanitize the embed Mentions and private fields drop STEP 3Embed posted Message ID stored first STEP 4Clones held Unregistered copy waits A held clone routes here on approval
Nothing posts to a guessed channel. A clone earns its destination only once it's registered with a program.

Elementor and Discord object quirks

  • Two widgets can look identical and mean different things. Elementor makes duplicating a form across pages effortless, so the widget itself carries no signal about which program it now belongs to.
  • Discord reads mention syntax the instant it's posted. A field value containing `@everyone` or a role mention isn't inert text to Discord, it's a live ping, so it has to be neutralized before the request goes out.
  • Elementor's native Discord action posts to one fixed channel. It has no concept of per-page routing, so choosing the destination by page has to happen before the built-in action ever fires.

03Inside the routing build

What each embed carries, and how the channel gets picked

Origin Embed starts with one registered form and a fixed destination. Moderation Workflow adds mention sanitizing and a full program-to-channel map. Community Control adds a moderator exception route and message reconciliation across the whole build.

Field allowlist Origin Embed

Excludes email and any other private answer from the public embed.

Mention sanitizer Moderation Workflow

Neutralizes Discord user, role and everyone syntax before it posts.

Program channel map Moderation Workflow

Sends each registered page family to its own destination channel.

Moderator exception route Community Control

Sends ambiguous or risky applications to a private review channel.

Message reconciliation Community Control

Links the saved source key back to the exact message Discord accepted.

Exception queue Moderation Workflow

A post that can't go out lands on a list, not down a hole.

Thirty-day stabilization Community Control

Live channel routing gets reviewed with you for its first month.

ROUTING HEALTH Correctly channeled posts, this month Unregistered clones held right now Open count 0
Community Control adds this view: correctly channeled posts trending up alongside a held-clone count that stays at zero.

04Who it's for

Built for communities running more than one program at once

Community operations managers, event moderators, membership coordinators and Discord server administrators who need each landing page's submissions to land in the right place, safely.

Community operations manager

Runs a dozen cloned intake forms and needs each one to know which program it actually belongs to.

Event moderator

Wants applications to arrive with the page context attached, not a bare block of text.

Membership coordinator

Needs stable field IDs that survive a copy-paste redesign of the landing page.

Discord server administrator

Would rather quarantine an unregistered clone than clean up a mention ping after the fact.

05Compare

Copy-paste moderation vs a raw webhook vs BoldBellows

A raw webhook can push a payload into a channel in minutes. Telling which page it actually came from, and catching what shouldn't be public before it posts, is what a quick setup always skips.

Private fieldsManualWhatever the moderator remembers to cutNoSent along with everything elseYesKept off the allowlist entirely

The one-global-form trap

A single widget gets reused across several community programs at once. The mention sanitizer and program channel map together make sure each program's submissions land where that page actually promised, not a default guess.

The role-mention trap

A respondent pastes markdown links or role mentions into a public field. Message reconciliation catches and diverts the uncertain case before Discord ever receives anything invalid.

PricingClear, one-off packages

How should the widget hand off to Discord?Required

Stored proof that the embed actually posted needs more than a single fire-and-forget request.

How should a resubmission be recognized?Required

A clone quarantine catches a duplicated widget a legacy match wouldn't.

How much destination detail should the embed carry?Required

A moderator route and message ledger need more work than raw submitted fields.

How soon do you need it live?Required

Standard follows the schedule your other choices set. Pay to move up the queue and go live sooner.

Optional extrasOptional

Each one begins switched off. Turn on what your rollout needs, watch the total, switch it back off.

06The process

Mapping every page before a single embed posts

Origin Embed runs about 3 to 5 working days, Moderation Workflow 5 to 8, and Community Control 8 to 12. A faster tier is available in the pricing tool if your launch date is fixed.

Your handover notes Every page, mapped to its channel The field allowlist, agreed line by line What happens to an unregistered clone How a failed post gets retried Plain English, no jargon Build summary Test set: 40 submissions run Routed correctly 37 Mentions stripped 4 Clones held 3 Ready for handoff
  1. Find every clone

We locate each copy of the widget across pages, popups and templates, not just the original.

  2. Register a program per page

You tell us which channel each page's submissions actually belong to.

  3. Agree the allowlist

We set exactly which fields are safe to appear in a public embed.

  4. Try to break it

We fire mention-laced, cloned and unregistered-page submissions to confirm sanitizing holds.

  5. Go live and sit with it

We keep an eye on the channel as real applications start arriving before we step away.

Three things to have ready

  • Admin or staging access to the WordPress site running Elementor.
  • A rough list of which pages belong to which community program.
  • A Discord bot token or webhook with access to the target channels.

07Security and ownership

Your channel map, not your whole server.

Access is limited to the channels you register and the fields you approve for that page. Everything else in your server, from roles to unrelated channels, stays outside what this build can touch.

Documented hooks only

The routing rides Elementor's own form-action API, never a core-file patch.

Unregistered pages get no route

A clone outside the program register never has a channel assigned to it.

Only allowlisted fields travel

Anything not on the approved list simply never reaches the embed.

Bot credentials stay off the page

The Discord token lives server-side, never inside any widget markup.

A resubmission won't double-post

The stored source key finds the earlier message and reconciles it instead of posting again.

The program registry is yours

You keep the page-to-channel map, the allowlist and the code after handoff.

09FAQ

Questions about routing, sanitizing and channels

Still unsure? We reply in plain English.

Why not just use Elementor's built-in Discord integration?

For one form posting to one fixed channel with no sensitive fields, that's genuinely enough. It has no concept of per-page routing or mention sanitizing, which is exactly where this build starts.

Can the same widget serve two different programs on purpose?

Yes, but each instance needs its own registration. The program channel map can send two copies of the identical form to two different channels once they're both approved.

What if someone types Discord markdown into a text field?

The sanitizer neutralizes mention syntax and escapes markdown before the embed is built, so it renders as plain text rather than triggering a ping or breaking formatting.

Does renaming a field break the routing?

Not if the underlying field ID stays intact. The registry tracks structural changes, and a label swap alone won't move a submission to the wrong channel.

Is there a monthly fee for the Discord side of this?

No ongoing charge from BoldBellows. Discord itself, and anything else you already run, keeps billing exactly the way it did before this build existed.

Can older submissions be backfilled into Discord?

If those submissions were stored rather than only emailed, a bounded backfill can post them through the same allowlist and sanitizer as anything new. If you searched for elementor forms to discord, elementor forms submissions to discord notification and elementor forms discord integration, this is the service that delivers it.
