BoldBellowsLinkedIn to Google Sheets automation for reporting without exports

LinkedIn to Google Sheets automation that keeps one clean row per Company Page post, with comment counts and statistics tracked over time

Share statistics from LinkedIn cover only the past 12 months, so a sheet that reads them once and overwrites loses the earlier numbers. BoldBellows records the organization URN, the post URN and the actor's URN before anything else happens, recognizes a repeated delivery by its URN the moment it arrives, then looks up the post's key in a hidden index, updates its row in place if it exists, appends it if it does not, and stores statistic snapshots on a separate tab so the movement of each post is kept. Writes are batched, since Sheets allows 300 requests a minute per project and 50,000 characters in a cell.

Chapter 01 the duplicate-row problem

Appending a row per event leaves ten rows for one post and no history

An append-only zap adds a row every time a post changes, so one post that gathers reactions and comments becomes ten rows with ten different numbers. Reports need a manual dedupe first, a busy day pushes the write quota, and last quarter's figures are gone because each refresh overwrote them or doubled them.

I stopped cleaning the sheet on Fridays.

From an analyst's weekly review

Ten rows for one post

Every update appended.

Totals double counted

Duplicates stayed.

No history of reach

Numbers were overwritten.

Chapter 02 How it works

How Page activity becomes one reliable row per post

Nothing is written until the change is judged and the LinkedIn row has been looked for.

How LinkedIn to Google Sheets automation works: posts in, one clean row each, on a schedulePosts travel as letters from your LinkedIn page through a post office, the sync we build, which checks and cancels each one, into the mailbox that is your Google Sheet.PAGESHEETYour LinkedIn Company PagePosts, comments, followers, mentions, messagesThe sync we buildAdds new posts, fixes editedones, double-checks on ascheduleYour Google SheetPosts, comments, followers, mentions, reportsREAD-ONLYACCESSONE ROWPER POSTCHECKEDHow LinkedIn to Google Sheets automation works: posts in, one clean row each, on a schedule, stacked: page, post office, then mailbox.PAGEYour LinkedInCompany PagePosts, comments, followers, mentions, messagesThe sync webuildAdds new posts, fixesedited ones,double-checks on aSHEETYour GoogleSheetPosts, comments, followers, mentions,reportsREAD-ONLYACCESSONE ROWPER POST
Fig. 3. Each post is keyed, its row updated in place and its statistics snapshotted.

Admit only what counts

Each LinkedIn event is verified and logged; anything outside the agreed scope is set aside with a reason.

Receive, key, look up

Each post is read once, keyed on its URN and event, and looked up in the index.

Write, snapshot, verify

The row is updated or appended in a batch, a snapshot is added, and a scheduled check compares the sheet with the Page.

Source and destination facts

  • Top one hundred per facet: Follower statistics break down by 7 professional facets and return only the top 100 values for each, and time-bound counts are not segmented at all, so the route stores the demographic view on a schedule.
  • Three hundred a minute: Google Sheets allows 300 read and 300 write requests a minute per project, so the route batches rows instead of writing them one by one.
  • Retry rules: Retries are preceded by a check of Google Sheets using the post URN and event type, joined into one key column, so repeating a request cannot repeat its effect.

Chapter 04 Who this fits

Made for B2B software companies that then keep a clean sheet of Company Page posts, comments and statistics for reporting, with no duplicate rows

LinkedIn is where the numbers originate. A Google Sheet is where most teams report them.

Marketing manager

"I report monthly."

Rows are already clean, so the report is a pivot.

Analyst

"I need trends."

The history tab keeps a snapshot of each post over time.

Founder

"I only want a sheet."

The data lives in a Google Sheet you already own.

Agency manager

"Clients get a copy."

Each client has its own sheet and permissions.

Intern

"Please stop the copy and paste."

Nothing is copied by hand.

Sales lead

"Which posts drew comments?"

Comment counts sit on the post's row.

Chapter 05 The options

How LinkedIn gets into Google Sheets: a Zap that appends a row per post, a connector, or a keyed-row sync

Each can add a row. Only one keeps it unique, updates it in place and stores the history.

An old change turns up late

A delayed LinkedIn event is compared with what Google Sheets already holds and is set aside if it would undo something newer.

A post's impressions grow for two weeks

The row is updated in place on its key, one snapshot is stored per interval you choose, and the earlier numbers remain in the history tab. The post URN and event type, joined into one key column turns the question into a lookup, and the answer is one of four: nothing, right, wrong or unclear. Everything else is an update, a no-op or a case for a person.

Before fields or branches are discussed, the post URN and event type, joined into one key column is fixed, because every later decision reads from it.

Build your LinkedIn to Google Sheets price

Pick a package, answer three short questions about how LinkedIn data should reach Google Sheets, and your price and turnaround move as you choose.

Choose your packageRequired

The three packages differ by how much routing, reconciliation and governance sits around the LinkedIn to Google Sheets route.

A focused production route for one LinkedIn environment and one Google Sheets destination, delivering LinkedIn Company Page posts, comments and statistic snapshots in Google Sheets, one keyed row per post with a snapshot history with identity and failure controls from day one.

  • One approved LinkedIn event family and business-state admission rule within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • One authorized account, workspace, organization, or base boundary within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • One Google Sheets object contract with field and relationship mapping within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • Stable matching through LinkedIn organization or ad account plus post, campaign, form response, lead, or event registration ID and a hidden source-key column and destination row ID
  • Tests for duplicates, stale events, malformed data, denied access, and timeouts within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • Implementation map, test record, and premium PDF operations handover within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.

Adds branching, matching and a bounded historical pass for teams whose route into Google Sheets cannot be one straight-through action, while still delivering LinkedIn Company Page posts, comments and statistic snapshots in Google Sheets, one keyed row per post with a snapshot history.

  • Everything in Launch
  • Up to four approved routing or state-transition branches within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • Existing-record resolution and one bounded historical checkpoint within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • Lookup-before-replay protection for uncertain writes
  • Named exception ownership and a decision-ready evidence packet within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • Field, permission, and destination-state validation before mutation within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.

Adds reconciliation and governance for teams that now depend on LinkedIn Company Page posts, comments and statistic snapshots in Google Sheets, one keyed row per post with a snapshot history, with drift detection and an exception register for Google Sheets.

  • Everything in Operations
  • Scheduled source-to-destination reconciliation
  • Schema, field, scope, and webhook drift checks within the LinkedIn to Google Sheets service.
  • Volume-aware retry ceilings and stale-event protection
  • Aged-exception reporting with ownership status
  • Thirty-day release watch and operating review

For LinkedIn to Google Sheets, multi-business-unit routing, unrestricted bidirectional synchronization, regulated archives, unsupported extensions, or additional destination systems receive a separate written quote. Third-party subscriptions and usage charges are excluded.

Which LinkedIn events should reach Google Sheets?Required

Governed lifecycle set: Use this when several approved LinkedIn transitions must converge on one Google Sheets row.

How should Google Sheets recognise a LinkedIn record it has already handled?Required

Ambiguity queue: Route zero-match and multi-match cases to an owner instead of letting Google Sheets guess.

Which LinkedIn events should reach Google Sheets?Required

Managed repair case: Capture evidence, ownership and a safe next action whenever a Google Sheets write is uncertain.

How soon do you need it live?Required

Standard follows the schedule your other choices set. Pay to move up the queue and go live sooner.

Optional extrasOptional

Each one begins switched off. Turn on what your rollout needs, watch the total, switch it back off.

Chapter 06 The process

Six steps from a pile of rows to a sheet you trust

Six stages, one owner on your side, and a written output at the end of each.

  1. About 30 minutes

    Design the sheet

We map posts, comments, statistics and Pages to tabs, columns and a key.

  2. Access review

    Approve access

Access is granted, tested and documented on both the LinkedIn and Google Sheets sides.

  3. Most of the project

    Agree keys and formats

Key columns, date formats, tab names and how deleted posts are shown are agreed in writing before the build.

  4. Before you review

    Try to make it fail

On this LinkedIn to Google Sheets route, every failure we can think of is tried against a test Google Sheets, and the ones that matter become written repair steps.

  5. Handover day

    Launch with notes

Production begins at a boundary you have agreed, with a PDF covering the rules, owners and repair steps.

  6. About 30 minutes

    Thirty-day look-back

A review at the end of the first month covers volume, exceptions, retries and anything that drifted.

Chapter 07 Turnaround

Delivery windows by package

With LinkedIn to Google Sheets in place, the schedule runs from the day access is granted.

Launch

4 to 7 business days

Route

7 to 11 business days

Govern

11 to 17 business days

Chapter 08 Getting started

What to gather before day one

A named LinkedIn administrator who can approve the connection

One Page administrator to grant access, plus a Google Sheet you can edit

LinkedIn credentials we can use for the agreed resources and events

The trigger you want: what must happen in LinkedIn before anything is sent

A decision on which LinkedIn values must never reach Google Sheets

Confirmation of which environment is production

Chapter 09 Trust

Your data stays in its place, except what the map allows

Neither LinkedIn nor Google Sheets is modified.

Read-only LinkedIn to Google Sheets access: your data stays yoursA sealed envelope marked private and yours to open, with a read-only stamp.PrivateYOURS TO OPENREAD-ONLY

Your tools stay as they are

We work with the supported connection points of LinkedIn and Google Sheets and leave the products exactly as you run them today.

Scoped, revocable access

Credentials are limited to the agreed scope, and withdrawing them stops the route at once.

Less data, less exposure

Each LinkedIn field sent to Google Sheets has a stated purpose. Sensitive values are excluded or masked before anything is written.

Look, compare, then act

An unclear write is settled by finding the LinkedIn row and comparing it with the intended values, not by sending again.

Minimal logging

Operational history is limited to IDs, timestamps and outcomes.

Full handover

You leave with the mapping, the settings and a plain-language guide.

"A sheet is trusted when a number can be traced to a post, so the build keeps one row per post and never edits a snapshot."

Chapter 11 Questions

LinkedIn in Google Sheets: what analysts ask

These are the queries we hear most, with straight replies.

Do I need to be there? No. You send one short brief. Then you review a finished result.Search any question
When is a LinkedIn to Google Sheets Zapier automation not enough?

A simple connector can give you a sheet that matches the Page. It will not update a row instead of repeating it, respect Sheets' write limits or keep a statistics history. These are the parts the build adds.

Why not append a row per event?

One post becomes many rows, and every total is wrong until someone cleans it.

How are updates handled?

The key is looked up first. A match updates the row, and no match appends one.

Can we see change over time?

Yes. A snapshot tab stores the statistics at the intervals you choose.

What if the sheet is edited by hand?

Protected columns are respected, and a changed layout raises an alert before writes continue.

Why keep snapshots?

LinkedIn's organic share statistics cover a rolling twelve months, so the sheet keeps what the window drops.

Does it post anything to LinkedIn?

No. It only reads.

What if my fields change after mapping in the LinkedIn to Google Sheets route?

Mapping is a standard step. Our LinkedIn Google Sheets field mapping service ends with a table you approve and a test that proves it.

Does it support our own routing rules on the LinkedIn to Google Sheets route?

Yes. We convert your conditions to a custom LinkedIn workflow for Google Sheets and explain each choice like a LinkedIn Google Sheets integration consultant would. From $415.

How do you handle breaking changes?

Upstream changes are caught at the point of use: the step pauses, the reason is recorded, and your owner is notified. Repair work is quoted outside the review window.
