01 · the noise problem

One firehose channel everyone has already muted?

When every store event pings the same channel, the alerts that matter get buried under the ones that do not, so the team stops looking. A real shopify slack alert automation routes each event to the people who act on it, and rolls the rest into a digest.

How your Shopify to Slack alerts get set up

Your store feeds Slack through a small, read-only connection we build and test. Nobody on your team installs a Slack app or learns a new tool. We write the routing rules for every shopify orders slack notification and each other event; your team just reads the channels.

  1. 01

You connect the store and Slack

A read-only app in your Shopify admin, and a link to your Slack workspace.

  2. 02

    We write the routing rules

Each event gets a home. We decide which channel it posts to, by type or order value, so your shopify slack channel notification always reaches the right team.

  3. 03

    We test with real events

Ahead of go-live we push real store events through, check each reaches the channel it should, and prove none posts twice.

03 · what reaches your channels

Every event your store fires, shaped into a message you can act on

Not every event tipped into a single room. Each alert is written for the person who reads it, carries the fields that matter, and lands in the channel whose team owns it.

A new-order alert in the sales channel: the fields your team needs to act, marked delivered, with the other channels a rule could route to.

Refunds & cancellations

The money events, routed to finance so a refund or a cancelled order is seen at once.

Low and out-of-stock

A shopify products slack alert fires the moment a line drops past your reorder point, so stock never runs out unseen.

Failed payments

Declined and failed charges raised to the team that can rescue the sale before it slips away.

Ops Room

VIP & high value

Large baskets and returning buyers surfaced in a channel your team keeps an eye on, so no big order slips by.

First-time customers

A new shopify customers slack message when someone buys for the first time, so support can welcome them.

  • Rules by type or value

Route by event type, or by order value, so a big basket can jump to a channel your team watches.

  • Instant or digest, per event

The events someone must act on post instantly; the quiet, high-volume ones wait for a digest.

  • Never over the limit

In a rush the sync batches, staying under Slack's one-message-a-second rule so nothing is dropped.

  • De-duplicated and re-checked

A retried event never posts twice, and a scheduled re-check catches anything Slack dropped.

04 · who reads the channels

Built for the shopify team notification slack lives in

Startups and growing e-commerce brands whose operations, support and finance already run the day in Slack, and want the store's events to show up there on their own.

Founders and operators

"I only find out about a problem when a customer complains."

A live feed of what your store is doing, in the tool you already have open.

Operations and stock

"We only notice a line is empty once we oversell it."

A low-stock and out-of-stock ping, plus a shopify inventory slack update, before it bites.

Support teams

"A big order or a first-timer, and we hear nothing."

First-time buyers and VIP orders surfaced, so support can reach out at the right moment.

Finance and founders

"Refunds and failed payments slip past us for days."

The money events routed to a finance channel, with a daily digest to close the loop.

Shopify to Slack: Flow, Zapier, an app, or done for you?

Teams reach for one of four routes to a shopify slack integration. Here is how each holds up on what keeps your channels worth reading.

Routing, not a firehose

A single Zap or workflow tends to dump every event into one channel.

We split events across channels by type or value, so each team reads only its own.

No dropped alerts

Slack rate-limits at about one message a second, so a rush can drop messages.

We batch and digest high-volume events, so a busy hour never loses one.

Quiet when you need it

A DIY shopify to slack zapier setup pings all night and all weekend.

Quiet-hours routing holds or reroutes off-hours events until the morning.

About those free routes. Shopify Flow's Slack action is a solid start if you are on the Advanced or Plus plan, but each rule is its own workflow and there is no built-in digest or quiet-hours logic. If you would rather feed a live spreadsheet than a chat channel, our Shopify to Google Sheets automation is the better home for reporting, and for keeping customer records rather than pinging them, see our Shopify to HubSpot automation.

Choose your packageRequired

The three packages differ by how many events you alert on and how far the routing goes, from one order channel to a full ops room.

Core order alerts in one clean channel, de-duplicated and never missed.

  • New order alerts posted to one Slack channel
  • Concise, readable messages with the numbers you care about
  • De-duplication, so a retried event never posts twice
  • A scheduled re-check that catches any event Slack dropped
  • Read-only connection to your store, live in your own Slack
  • Premium handover notes (PDF) covering every rule and channel
  • Two rounds of changes after you see the first alerts land

Several events, sent to the right channels, with a daily digest option.

  • Everything in the Signal package
  • Orders, refunds and cancellations, each routed to its own channel
  • Rules that decide which event goes where, by type or order value
  • Richer messages with the fields your team acts on
  • A daily digest so quiet events roll up instead of pinging all day
  • Premium handover notes (PDF) covering the routing map
  • Three rounds of changes after you see it running

The full ops set, routed per team, instant and digest together.

  • Everything in the Routing package
  • Low-stock, out-of-stock, failed payments and first-time customers
  • High-value order flags routed to a channel your team watches
  • Instant alerts for what matters, a digest for the rest
  • Quiet-hours ready, so overnight noise waits for the morning
  • Batching that stays under Slack's one-message-a-second limit in a rush
  • Premium handover notes (PDF) covering every event, channel and rule
  • Four rounds of changes after you see it running

Several stores, a warehouse or 3PL feed, an on-call rota to page, or an event none of the packages above describe. Tell us how your team works in Slack and we will price it.

How many Slack channels should alerts land in?Required

More channels means more routing rules to write and test, so each team sees only what it needs.

Which events should trigger an alert?Required

The more event types you switch on, the more Shopify data we read and shape into a clean message.

How should each message read?Required

The layout of each alert decides how fast someone can glance at it and act, without opening Shopify.

Instant alerts, a digest, or both?Required

Instant is best for events someone must act on; a digest keeps the quiet, high-volume events from becoming noise.

How soon do you need it live?Required

Standard runs to the schedule your other choices set. Pay to move up the queue and go live sooner.

Optional extrasOptional

Each one starts switched off. Turn on what your team needs, watch the price, turn it back off.

06 · from brief to live channels

Your shopify slack automation setup, step by step

Most of the work sits on our side across the whole build. Your part is a short brief, about ten minutes of access, and a review once the alerts are running in your own channels.

  1. Step 01

    Brief

Answer a few questions online: which events should ping, which channels you run, and who needs to see what.

  2. Step 02

    Read-only access

A read-only app in Shopify and a link to your Slack workspace. Around ten minutes, and we walk you through each step.

  3. Step 03

    We build the routing

We write the rules, shape each message and decide instant versus digest for every event you chose.

  4. Step 04

    We test with real events

We fire real store events and confirm each lands in the right channel, reads clearly, and never posts twice.

  5. Step 05

    You review

Live with the alerts in your channels for a few days and ask for tweaks. Your package includes two to four rounds.

  6. Step 06

    Handover

Premium handover notes (PDF) that lay out which rule sends which event to which channel. From there the alerts run on in your own Slack.

Your handover notes Every rule, explained Which event goes where Changing a channel safely If an alert ever stops Plain English, no jargon PDF Premium handover notes A PDF to keep and share with your team Delivery health Last event 9:43 · all delivered Scheduled re-check · alert if anything stops

What we need from you

  • Store admin access

Enough to add a read-only app in Shopify, or set us up a staff login instead.

  • Your Slack workspace

A workspace and the channels you want alerts in, or let us suggest a channel layout.

  • Which events matter

A short list of what should ping, and what should wait for a digest.

  • Your reorder points

If you want low-stock alerts, the level at which each product should ping.

07 · access and ownership

Read-only on Shopify. Your Slack. Your rules.

We can look, but we cannot touch. The connection reads your store's events to post them; it cannot change a single order, product or price.

read-only you own it post only named channels

Read-only by design

The connection to Shopify only reads.

Private details optional

Customer emails and addresses can be left out of the messages, so alerts carry only what a team needs.

Posts only where you say

The connection posts to the channels you name, and nowhere else. It cannot read your team's conversations.

Remove access any time

Delete the app or remove it from Slack and our access ends at once, with no monthly app subscription to unwind.

Nothing stored our side

We hold no copy of your store's events. Each one passes from Shopify to your Slack channel and is gone from us.

No lock-in

The rules live in your own store and your own Slack. Nothing has to be renewed to keep the alerts flowing.

09 · questions

Shopify to Slack questions, answered

What store owners and their teams check with us before starting a build.

Do I need Shopify Plus or Shopify Flow for this?

No. Shopify Flow's Slack action needs the Advanced or Plus plan, but our build reads your store through Shopify's API, which every plan has, including Basic. So a full shopify slack automation setup works on any plan, with routing, digests and quiet hours that Flow does not offer on its own.

Can't I just set up Shopify to Slack with Zapier?

You can, and it works well enough for one plain new-order ping. The trouble starts as you grow: a shopify to slack zapier setup counts each event as a task, so the bill climbs with your orders, every rule is a separate Zap to maintain, and a busy hour can hit Slack's limits. We build the routing, batching and digests once, and you own it with no monthly fee.

Will a flash sale flood or break my channels?

No. Slack accepts about one message a second per channel and returns an error if you go over. When events spike we batch them and roll the quiet ones into a digest, so a busy hour stays readable and no alert is dropped.

Can different events go to different channels?

Yes, that is the point. We write rules so orders go to sales, refunds and failed payments go to finance, and a low-stock shopify products slack alert goes to ops. High-value orders can jump to a channel your team watches. You choose how many channels in the pricing below.

Can I get a new shopify customers slack message too?

Yes. In the Ops Room package we flag first-time buyers so support can welcome them at the right moment. If you would rather run full welcome and marketing flows to those customers by email, our Shopify to Klaviyo automation is the better fit; here we keep it to a clean heads-up in Slack.

What about too many alerts, or alerts at night?

Cutting noise is the whole idea. Events that need action post instantly; quiet, high-volume ones roll into a digest at times you pick. Add weekend and quiet-hours routing and overnight events hold back or reroute, so off-hours stay calm and the channel does not get muted.

How safe is my data, and am I tied to a monthly app?

Our access to Shopify is read-only, so we cannot change orders, products or prices, and customer details can be left out of the messages. In Slack the connection only posts to the channels you name and cannot read your team's conversations. The rules run in your own accounts, there is no subscription, and you can remove access at any time.

Can you add a daily sales digest as well?

Yes. The daily sales digest is an optional extra: one end-of-day roll-up of orders, revenue and refunds to a channel you choose. It sits alongside the instant alerts, so the team gets the headline numbers without watching all day.

Your next order could ping the right channel
